Three Grants to Support Climate Adaptation

The Les champs d’avenir Pierre-De Saurel Grants aim to recognize and support concrete projects that have been completed, are underway or are planned by agricultural businesses in the MRC de Pierre-De Saurel.

A total of $15,000 will be awarded through three $5,000 grants, one in each of the following categories.

Animal Welfare

This category is intended for projects that improve animal welfare while addressing challenges related to climate change.

Projects may, for example, help improve animal comfort, health or safety, reduce exposure to heat stress, or adapt facilities and practices to changing climate conditions.

Agri-Environmental Practices

This category is intended for projects that improve agricultural practices to reduce business vulnerability and support climate change adaptation.

Projects may, for example, focus on soil health and cover, water management, erosion and runoff, biodiversity, agricultural inputs or the protection of sensitive environments.

Farm Succession and Climate Innovation

This category is intended for the next generation of farmers and supports projects that contribute to the long-term viability of the business while strengthening its capacity to adapt to climate change.

Projects may, for example, address operations, work organization, health and safety, business autonomy or changes to the business model.
