What are the challenges facing Quebec's entrepreneurial ecosystem in 2024?

According to estimates by the Observatoire du repreneuriat et du transfert d'entreprise du Québec (ORTEQ), there will be over 16,000 companies in Quebec whose owners wish to sell or transfer a business by the end of 2024. This high volume of business transfer intentions raises a number of issues, including the ability of players in the Quebec business transfer ecosystem to support business owners and buyers in the transfer process, which can take several months.

In this webinar, Marc Duhamel, Scientific Director of ORTEQ and Professor of Economics at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, and Alexandre Ollive, President and CEO of CTEQ, will discuss the factors that will influence business transfer activity in Quebec.

The discussion will focus, among other things, on the economic situation, the state of aging and labor shortages in the regions, the effects of an anticipated easing of Canadian monetary policy, and the expectations of ecosystem players in relation to the tabling of the Quebec government's next budget.
